If there is a “leadership/effort issue” like you’ve said, then trading away a guy like McDonagh would be counterproductive.

McDonagh > Lee

Teams are not going to help you just because you want them to.

Islanders could trade Pageau without retention if they wanted to and avoid a buyout. Not sure they could do the same with Lee

Trotz brought in guys who've wun cups, Schenn and ROR, to be vet leaders. We're good on Lee
