I was looking at career stats and impact, and then applied dicounts to players who have dropped off significantly as of late (PLD Laine etc) or are not able to play (Hart)

there isn't a single GM in NHL history that would take sergachev over McAvoy. the top three is matthews first, and then either fox or mcavoy depending on preference. the rest fight it out from there.

I think the factor here is the cups... While I do agree with your statement, if you're looking at overall impact; 2 cups is hard to ignore

that kind of junk should be ignored because it's dumb. it's a team sport and mcavoy dragged a team kicking and screaming to a game 7 final as their best player, vs sergachev not being close to their best d man.

i don't think that was his logic. i just think the guy likely doesn't pay much attention to the league and knows sergachev because of tampas cup runs. there isn't a hockey related thing that sergachev is better than mcavoy at.
