Description
If we want to cash in on Buchnevich at this TDL, this is what I would be looking for in return. I think a solid RD prospect, a 1st round pick, and a current roster player to balance out cap.

I made 2 scenarios to acquire Buchnevich, one being Kotkaniemi and the other being Teravainen. In both cases, the Blues are acquiring the RD and 1st round pick. I like the Kotkaniemi option more for the sake of acquiring a middle 6 center for the future. I think Thomas, Dvorksy, Kotkaniemi would be a pretty solid center core for years to come. The Blues can then move Schenn over to the wing position.

Snuggerud will join the team at the end of the regular season. I don’t think Minnesota is making it out of the regional if they match up against BC or BU (I think Minnesota is finishing 7-10). Snuggerud will make his Blues debut on 4/10 at home against Chicago. He’d slot into the 2nd line RW spot with Captain Schenn. Move everyone down one spot at RW and scratch Blais.

Lines with Teravainen
Neighbours - Thomas - Kyrou
Teravainen - Schenn - Kapanen*
Saad - Hayes - Sundqvist*
Walker - Alexandrov* - Toropchenko
Leddy - Parayko
Krug - Kessel
Perunovich - Faulk
Binnington - Hofer
Scratched: Scandella, Blais, Tucker

* Denotes when Snuggerud enters the line up as 2RW
- Kapanen becomes 3RW
- Sundqvist becomes 4C
- Alexandrov is sent to the AHL

Détails additionnels:
Kotkaniemi is currently playing on the 4th line. Buchnevich immediately adds a Top 6 offensive threat to Carolina. I get Morrow may be a high valued prospect from Carolina’s perspective but Carolina is acquiring a high-end winger for 2 cup runs. Draft pick should be anywhere ranging from 20-32.
CAR
  1. Alexandrov, Nikita
  2. Buchnevich, Pavel
Détails additionnels:
Alexandrov is sent to fulfill the 4th line center position as a cheap option. They can also acquire a different 4C from another team but figured I’d throw him in from a positional need perspective.

If he’s generating so many chances, why is he on the 4th line and not even on the power play? 9 assists isn’t indicative of “one of the best chance generators in the NHL”

Hmm, what do you know, counting stats don't show the whole story of a player? Strange thing that...

Happily, he's such a good value asset with that deal. 23, a dominant defensive force, and one of the best chance generators in the NHL. I'll happily keep him

Once again, dominant defensively only when he's being sheltered. Give him REAL 2C minutes and comp he's folding like a cheap tent

Issue with that is he got real 2C minutes to start the season and his numbers were better than they are now LMAO. Stop it

2C's don't play 12-14 minutes a night. Since the start of the season, he's faced a very low quality of comp and has been a replacement level depth player.

He's a good 3C when he's on. But the Canes need an ACTUAL 2C

He was playing 16-18 minutes a night at the start of the year when he was scoring well. The issue he has right now is he's snake bitten. He's a fine 2C when he's got the puck going in for him, and he'll be fine once he gets the fluky one that he needs right now. What the Canes need a scoring winger. That's why Waddell, as reported by LeBrun today in the Athletic, is looking at top nine wingers.

Snake bitten, or just not a 2C. He's not snake bitten, he just can't handle big minutes because he's been sheltered his whole career. Any team riding on him being their future 2C will only continue to be disappointed.

He's snakebitten. Watch the Canes game tonight against Chicago. You'll see exactly what I mean. He'll create 5 different great chances and none of them will end up in the net. He's utterly snake bitten. At the beginning of the year, and through most of his career, he was taking at least one or two of them. He's a fine 2C, and has been almost the entire time he's been in Carolina up to this year

Hard disagree. 2C's don't play sheltered minutes against low comp.

His role difficulty and quality of competition has been very low since joining Carolina. Nothing about any of his stat lines convince me or anyone on this site that understands how player deployment works that he's anything more than a sheltered 3C.

Insane defensive numbers last season? Yeah, he averaged 14 minutes TOI against literally no good competition, lol.

    Which, is fine. He's a good 3C. that's it.

Except he averages 14 minutes a night 5v5, which is a 2C workload. He doesn't play special teams, which hampers that. If he did, say that's up to 16-17 minutes a night? Yeah, 2C workload. Insane defensive stats between Andrei Svechnikov and Martin Necas... the two worst defensive forwards the Canes had. Against incredibly strong competition last year too. Looking back at it, his QoC factor is the second highest on the team, to only Aho. So ya, 2C on an Eastern Conference Finalist.

I don't know where you're getting that he faced against strong comp, he didn't. Almost any stat site/public model has his quality of comp and role difficulty in the gutter lol, because he didn't play against top comp.

    14 minutes 5v5 is not a 2C workload. 2C's play 17+ 5V5 minutes a night and aren't sheltered against comp.

Again, nothing convinces me he's a 2C, because he isn't. Scored 40 points once

    https://puckiq.com/woodmoney?season=20222023&team=car&group_by=player_season_team

Last year, he played 23% of his total TOI against elite comp, 34% against middle of the road comp, and 43% against low comp.

This season, the numbers are very similar.
