Ottawa prefers to keep Chychrun instead of trading him within the division for less than what they paid.

If Treliving pulls off this trade with Ottawa I’d French kiss him, there’s no way Ottawa let’s Chychurn, top pairing dman whose 25 and plays on both special teams, go for top 4 dman and a late first and second rounder. Knies, minten or Cowan would have to be in the deal. liljegren is a solid NHL dman but he’s not Chychrun

To me, he's basically a right-handed Erik Brannstrom and we have plenty of puck-moving defensemen.

Adding him would be somewhat redundant.

We need a RHD that has a more physical element to his game, can kill penalties, etc.

Yeah but he is a bit bigger and taller, plus a bit better defensively too, but most importantly, he is a RHD

Put him with Sanderson and watch him become even better

Given what we paid to bring in Chychrun in the first place, I'd accept the deal if it was the Leafs' 2026 1st instead of the Bruins' 2025 2nd.

Keep in mind we are trading Chychrun within the division here.
