Description
So it doesn’t matter where Hanifin is traded he’s gonna sign with Boston in the offseason so might as well send him there anyways

Vancouver has been heavily interested in tanev

Any team for Greer just trying not to waive too many players

Problem is Flames don’t want or need either of those players and picks won’t help us for years, so everyone needs to know CGY’s looking for Top Prospects who’ve already been picked and useful NHL Players more than secondary picks like 2nds/3rds/5ths and our needs are at Centre and Defence

We’ll take Grz if it brings back a Zacha, Lohrei or Poitras which BOS Fans are balking at, but we won’t take Mikheyev back with his term. We’d want like Suter or Soucy

I’m hoping Greer re-signs but if not and we can get a pick for him even though he’s 2 months away with a broken ankle, that’d be fine

You can get more from Boston than those 3rds, even if they hold their ground on Poitras/Lorhei.

At least grab the 2026 2nd instead of the 3rd. Merkulov (C/LW) isn't on all the prospect lists because he just turned 23, but is one of the AHLs leading scorers and has discovered that he isn't good enough to make the NHL without really getting good at the two way game. He is NHL ready, but Boston was short on room to bring in rookie centers with Poitras and Beecher making the team. Now they literally don't have enough money to call Merkulov up. Beecher will only ever be a 4th liner because of his offense, but he is 6'3" has excellent speed and is the best faceoff guy in Providence or Boston. There are better options than 3rd round picks.

boston fans are balking at? logic, and any rational hockey fan will balk at that. contenders that are thin at center, and just lost a center for the rest of the season don't up and trade a top six center they just extended for a position they don't really need. that's insanity.

not to mention, zacha has more trade value than rental hanifin. zacha? seriously? Poitras? Lets get back to planet earth here.

not to mention - why is everyone laboring under the delusion that Grzelcyk is this big albatross cap dump? He's been a high end top four d man for the last 5 years at a very reasonable cap hit. He hasn't been good this season, but i think it's far more likely that its just a rough patch, or he's nursing an injury rather than just forgetting how to play hockey.

Like I said, BOS Fans aren’t interested in moving those pieces. I really don’t care about BOS, I’m more focussed on what the Flames needs and interested pieces are that’s all

Hanifin >> Grz and yes, Grz’s value is down this season. Not much rumors or interest swirling around him and he’s a Pending UFA too…

You already know the Trade Value for a Rental like Hanifin is just as good as if he has term. Sign & Trades really only happen with RFA’s, but pre-negotiated sign upon arrival agreements happen for sure, just like Hampus Lindholm’s deal

sure, lets work off the hampus lindholm deal. he's a #1 d man. hanifin is a 2/3.

there was no high end roster player or prospect in the lindholm deal, and it came with a mutli year cap dump. If you want to work off that, be my guest. I would think that lands it at a 1st, 3rd, and a salary to make the money work.

Oh I think Lindholm and Hanifin are closer to the same tier than not.

ya. sure. one finished fourth in norris voting last year and i don't think the other has ever gotten so much as a fifth place vote.

Lindholm wasn’t traded last year and last year was obviously an anomaly for him.

it was. he's not a norris finalist kinda guy. but he's in a different category than hanifin.
