Mercer isn’t going anywhere. The only place he maybe would get moved to is NSH for Saros and that’s a long shot. Casey & 2nd for Hanifin and Schmid & 1st for Markstrom is fair also. I would throw in Clarke or Stillman also but that’s the most I’d do

Who do you suggest? If not Markstrom, then you’re just praying that NSH or BOS moves Saros or Ullmark this summer. Gibson stinks also and ANA isn’t gonna want to retain on him for 4 years

I suggest this isn’t the year to buy an expensive goalie. One of ullmark or Swayman will hit the market. I like ullmark.

Go after Spencer Knight. Florida needs the cap space and is in a win now mode. Ship them Toffoli or assets to buy with and there’s a goalie for our next decade.

Go get Filip Gustafsson at a discount. He’s young and a stud.

Go after Askarov.

We are in cup contending years. Knight and Askarov might not be the answer for another 2 years or so. We need a goalie that can start winning. And Gustavsson would be a gamble move knowing our luck would not work out. It’d be Vanecek all over again

This year is not the year to win with 3 rookies on the back end and all these injuries. Getting a guy like Markstrom could be the thing that tanks 5 years with his contract and whatever assets we give up instead of just taking a deep breath for 1 year

I’m saying what happens if BOS decides to keep Ullmark or NSH keeps Saros either because they simply keep them or it’s too expensive? Spencer Knight, a complete unknown, whose a mental headcase, or Filip Gustavsson whose had like 2 good years is your answer?

I’d rather have both those guys than paying 6 mill for Markstrom+assets.

Markstrom was a large reason why Calgary missed the playoffs 2 of the last 4 years. He was not good last year or in 20-21. And again, he’s 34 now.

Even Lundqvist fell off at 34.

The list of goalies to provide quality starting goalie play from ages 34-36 is slim to none.

I’d rather take my chances on Gustafsson with a cheaper asking price, a contract we can get out of if need be, and a lower salary
