I agree and probably don’t need to include Clarke in there. Bahl + EDM pick + 3rd may be a winning bid.

But another idea…try to get Broberg out of EDM (instead of pick), then try for Hanifin in free agency. I want my cake and want to eat it too.

If Toffoli is for sale we’ll take him

Canes were another team that I thought would have interest in Toffoli if he were made available. If the offers were the same, EDM gets the edge for obvious reasons. There would likely have to be a 3rd or another prospect/player included

The last thing the Devils need is another defender that doesn't hit; keep bahl. It's only been two games without Mcleod and rest of the team looks like they are going through the motions looking at the offseason.

Bahl is the second in hits on the Devils: Bastian 93, Bahl 86, Lazar 85, Mcloed 82, and then it falls off a cliff Siegenthaler 48. Compared to rest of the NHL Bahl doesn't hit but on the Devils he's one of the few that does.

Hanifin is a great player but not worth Bahl, Clarke, and a 1st. At some point the Devils need to allow players to develop so that they don't need to trade to fill holes in the lineup every year. Bahl, Clarke, and 1st for Hanifin feels too much like Sharangovich for Toffoli. Give the young players a chance to develop into a Hanifan.

That's a tempting offer for Hanifin. It should be enough.

A few of us Devils fans are brainstorming what it would take to land Hanifin & Markstrom. I don’t think the Devils would wanna move Holtz, but I could see them potentially moving either Casey, Hämeenaho, or less likely, but possibly Gritsyuk. Would you do this?

Casey is worth a TON right now. So essentially I see the breakdown as Casey and a 2nd for Hanifin and Schmid and a 1st for Markstrom

Dunno what Conroy and the Flames think but I don't like Casey. He's just too small to last in the NHL. So no IMO that won't work but the team many view it differently. Mercer is the player Calgary really wants. The rumor (I saw it in a few places including at least one NJ fan site) says Calgary told the Canes Markstrom will cost them Mercer.

Actually that rumor was Mercer or Nemec with a + in either case, but Nemec has to be untouchable.

I can see Mercer being dealt it fits the pattern the Devils followed with Zacha and Sharangovich before him. Zacha got traded because they had Sharangovich to replace him, Sharangovich got traded because they had Mercer to replace him. If they have another young center about ready to replace him then Mercer is next.
