Détails additionnels:
Curious to know if Vegas would be willing to moving Thompson and where the value would be if we was moved. Worth to note that this trade would occur in the off-season as Vegas would have no interest in moving Thompson right now as he has been decent and reliable with Hill battling some injuries. If Forsberg rebounds and looks solid as a backup after he returns, him going back at half retained should give Vegas a quality backup with an inexpensive contract. It could also give other guys like Patera a shot who looked decent in the one game I saw of him. Since this trade happens in the off-season after free agency starts this means that the sens will still have the retention slot. I believe the sens need to add but I'm just curious what that may be.

Why would Vegas trade one of the best bargain contracts in the NHL (Thompson)? 🤔

I mention in the wall of text on the Vegas trade I I would have that trade happen in the offseason post free agency, that way the sens get all 3 slots back and can retain on Forsberg. Its just difficult to show that the trade is happening in the future.

Thompson will have to be paid at the end of that contract and with Adin Hill looking like one of the best goalies in the league he will be asking for his bag and there will be less incentive possibly on the Vegas side to give in to Thompson if he is asking for a bit more than Vegas wants to pay him. With Forsberg at half retained they get a cheap backup, a guy who will more then likely be more cheap to resign if he plays well, while gaining a RD, 1st and 4th. However this may still not entice Vegas who may be more willing to just let him become a UFA.

Yeah but they still have a year and a half to enjoy the benefit. 🤔

Really just comes down to how well Forsberg plays the rest of the year and if Vegas wants to make some splashes and needs more assets (like the 1st). If they know that he isn't coming back then they may just take what they can get for him and flip those assets for something else. But like you said they could always just keep him and let him walk to FA in 2025.

If Vegas is taking another run at the cup this trade does not help them this year.

I mention in the description that this trade would happen in the upcoming off-season. It would really depend on how Vegas gauges their cap space and if they can actually bring back both Hill and Thompson on big contracts. This trade is if they want to get assets for him in the off-season while still getting a cheap back up.

Sorry I missed that. Good goalie on a great deal but I think Ottawa will need to hang on to 1st round picks since they are losing a 1st in the next 3 years
