I get the intrigue over a Vezina like goalie, but goalies are voodoo. Bobrovsky struggled for year with Florida then went on an insane run. (He was paid because Florida thought he was that goalie), this year Bob is doing decent and good enough to win with Florida's improved defensive play.
Last year Vegas won with who was once considered a journeyman goalie Adin Hill. Colorado won with a good goalie but not a consistent Vezina type. The top goalies in the league are considered Vasilevksy, Shesterkin, Sorokin and Saaros. The only goalie to win in that group is Vasi. Winnipeg has never made it that far in playoffs despite having Hellebuyck.
Point is that this deal seems like an over pay for the players as they won't help the Leafs go for a cup win this year.
