Thing is….
even if the Sabres did wanna do this, Jiricek is likely an “untouchable” from CBj point of view

Jiricek is a HELL of a prospect to be fair
But your point is well taken
I think the Sabres fans on here that keep trying to trade Mitts away are gonna need to start accepting the likelihood of us signing Mitts to a long term deal

Its not that we want to trade him, hes the most valuable and tradeable asset. If you move Kulich and Savoie, youre not getting full value for them based on their projections. Mitts has done it so the value is engraved in his stats. if they move prospects theyre way more likely to get burned in a trade. It makes way more sense to move Mitts at his highest value than a prospect at mid value

Ok, but here’s the thing….

While that may be what YOU would do,
in reality, Sabres are VERY LIKELY to lock Mitts up long term

That’s fine
And i sincerely mean this with no offense to you
I care about what the Sabres are gonna do in REAL LIFE
And not so much what random ppl idk would do

Again, in reality, i think the Sabres will lock up Mitts
And i think the deal will end up being similar to the 7x7 deals that Tage & Cozens signed

Right but you're not on staff so what you think they do is merely as much of an educated guess as to what I think they'll do. I agree Mitts will get a similar deal to TnT and Cozens though

Do u think the Sabres will actually trade Mitts though?
Is that your “educated guess” ?

50/50

This is an opinion site as much as anything. Sometimes it's about what you think kevyn adams will do, and sometimes it's about what we think the Sabres should do, so that some day they might actually win something important.

One could say the logical thing to do would be to keep Mitts & trade among our stockpile of prospects

Sure, Mitts is a more valuable single piece
But we have more than enough extra pieces we can move & still be plenty ok with depth moving forward

Adams also has recent history signing our good young players to long term deals to lock them up
And no real history of moving them in big trades

Plus, while he may not exactly be on the “hot seat” per se,
the Sabres do need to start winning sooner than later
And Mittelstadt helps with that much more than Savoie, or Ostlund, or a variety of other good prospects who have good trade value

Also,
signing Mitts to a long term deal doesn’t mean we can’t still trade him if we decide to

It just seems to me that the thing that most logically happens,
is signing Mitts

If it takes 2 A level prospects to match Mittelstadts value, that's 2 players that will produce in the NHL very soon vs 1 producing player. Only way I would do that is if I knew one of the prospects was way overhyped and overvalued. Buffalo fans right now are over valuing mitts to the point of devaluing the prospects.

Huh?
Again, I’m not talking about making trades on this site
I’m talking REAL LIFE
I don’t get what Buffalo fans’ overvaluation of Mitts or undervaluing prospects has to do with anything

And to be clear,
I’m also not talking about what YOU would do or even what i would do- I’m talking about what Adams is most likely to do

I’d be shocked if he traded Mitts
And it’s VERY LIKELY (imo) that we sign Mitts
