Description
slightly above cap but doigie on ltir will fix that.

long term outlook
- tanev comes out in replace for seamus casey next season
- toffoli walks in free agency for cap reasons
- resign foote and obrien for 1-2 seasons(low cap hit)
- trade lawson crouse when gritsyuk comes from khl
- sign mercer 4-6 years in the 5 mil range
- sign chycrun 6-7 years in the 6.5 range
- resign brendan smith for one year
- resign hatakka for one year
- if the younger guys next season in our top 6 (mercer or holtz) struggle trade for a legit secong line winger in a trade involving hameenaho (who i probably shoulve included in my calgary trade)

maybe not but you never know. we are not crazy far out of playoffs with a depleted roster. also these moves all help long term and arenty just all in for this one season moves apart from tanev who is just a rental who i wouldnt of even added to the trade if dougie wasnt on ltir

no shot new jersey declines that askarov deal hes arguably the best up and coming goalie around and was a first round pick himself.

feel like chicago wouldve been a better fit for a cap dump

arizona imo really depends on their playoff status becasue i dont think the deal is unfair if i were them i would try to get one more year of lottery and draft a legit defensmen which is all that team really needs for its future.

also chychrun is aspparently available so i dont think ottowa would reject. devils would maube reject on its own but assuming everything thats taken place in these mock trades take place it makes sense for them

Daws has proven himself enough. Chychrun said he wants to stay in Ottawa.

In short-term, we need a dman. Maybe two.

Goalie is more of long-term thing that’s easier to address in off-season.

crouse is not going anywhere regardless of playoffs or not, take crouse out and AZ still passes - a 31yo bottom D rental PASS, a bottom 6 W for 1 year PASS, and OK a decent looking AHL prospect that a more middle round picks doesnt move the needle
