Can't see the Isles, having just hired a new coach, trading Nelson, a key player for them. They clearly think the season is salvageable so likely won't be trading big pieces.

-First trade feels like an easy pass for the Islanders. Turning Martin with $500K retention into MacDermid saves a whopping total of $11,250 against the cap and really doesn't change anything; the rest of the deal being an extremely underwhelming return for Nelson. Johansen looks very washed and is on pace for less points over 82 games than what Nelson already has this season, and adding a late 1st doesn't really tip the scales enough. I think firing the coach mid-season is a pretty strong sign that the Isles won't be trading top-6 talent away, also.

-Kahkonen's been a little better than Prosvetov, but I don't think the Sharks are gonna burn their last retention slot this year on a deal that gets them essentially a warm body and a pair of late round picks.
