    I don’t know what’s going on in trades 1 and 2.
MTL will rather trade Kovacevic somewhere else besides Vancouver. I can’t see Vancouver having interest in Kovacevic.

    Lindholm w/double retention (1.2125M) for a 1st + 2nd + 3rd + Bruiser + Karlsson

The Canucks are keen on improving the size on the backend and Kovacevic meets all the criteria. Friedman is undersized and makes the most sense to move if they're going for an upgrade.

Do you think the Lindholm would work for both sides?
    In your opinion?
I’m just curious to ask 🤔

Re: Jim Rutherford, No BIG changes for Canucks at Deadline. There will be some good support players they go after without selling the farm. Allvin and Jimmy have been consistent. They want to build the team for the long term, which means not selling off the prospects.

It depends on how February goes for the Flames. If the Flames still find themselves 10th in P% next month, I expect they go the sellers route rather than risk all their UFAs walking for a failed playoff berth.

If that happens, I think this offer would be difficult to beat for another team and I think Calgary would go for it. Look at how much Horvat earned last year after many 30g-60p seasons and pacing at a career-high rate of 0.64 G/GP (52-goal pace). I think this offer of 1st + 2nd + Brz. + Karlsson > 1st + Raty + Beauvillier, and that was with Horvat retained 25%. Even if the Flames want to retool around Huberdeau, Weegar/Andersson, and Markstrom; the 1st, 2nd, and Bruiser give them assets they could move for a young NHLer the same way Ottawa did for DeBrincat or Chychrun.

As for Lindholm, he pretty much fits any team. Top-10 in Selke voting twice (2nd-place finish two seasons ago), plays both special teams, and is a bonafide 1B center in the NHL similar to Kesler 2009-2014. He'd immediately bring back the scoring threat our 2nd line has been lacking since the return of the Lotto Line two weeks ago. Even if you want to take Pettersson back off the Lotto line, having Lindholm just gives you so many more combinations. Plus, the Canucks would have 5 centers to swap between (Miller, Pettersson, Lindholm, Sutter, and Blueger), Lindholm would free up Petey and/or Miller from PK duties (Selke nominated). There are just so many good reasons with Lindholm.

Do you have a source for that?

All the reports I've seen have said the Canucks plan on being aggressive at the Deadline.

Canucks GM Patrik Allvin on being aggressive ahead of trade deadline: “I think I owe it to the players. We know that they are capable of playing at this high level. And if they continue to do that, it's on me to support them and give them opportunities to be successful.” - reported by Iain MacIntyre 01/17/24

I'm asking you for a source. Can you link the timestamp of the episode? Or a direct quote from Rutherford. Just saying "Go listen to the radio!," isn't a source.
