Liljegren has done nothing to deserve 3.49mill at 5 years. He was a healthy scratch in the playoffs last year and if the Leafs add defence at the deadline he could find himself in the same position.

He's playing 20 minutes a night and has been the leafs 2nd best defenceman. This is likely a dream contract for the team.

Being the Leafs 2nd best dman isnt something of note this season. If he was on any of the top teams in the League he would struggle to be a regular in the line up. He hasnt even outplayed his current contract value. He gets a raise only because the cap is going up.

However it goes without saying the hope is he can continue to improve and eventually be rewarded with a deal like this. But as of right now. NO NO NO NO NO
