yes. trade him for a first and a 4th. sign a 3c in free agency for cheaper than 4 million, use the first to acquire a top 6 winger who is younger than 30. basic re-tool strategy, most bad teams looking to compete the next year do this rather than doubling down

Bud, I don't know if you've noticed. But the going market rate for 2C's of late is in the $7-9M range, while even average at best 3C's are getting $4-6M per.

There is no, ship him out for a late 1st plus inconsequential pick, then expect to sign his replacement under what he's making now. Because the market is going to very quickly tell any GM foolish enough to do that that any replacement is going to cost MORE than what you just decided to give up originally.

Minnesota is far far better keeping the player they already know and know who wants to be there on a under-market value contract then have to pay a much higher rate for someone they don't know. Because that someone, may very well not be a fit. Either organizationally, or in the lockerroom.

What Minnesota DOES know. Is that Hartman already fits on their current roster, is beloved and works well in the lockerroom, and that he wants to be here.

He's not getting traded. End of discussion.

maybe im bias but the canucks just traded horvat last deadline and then signed blueger (1.9 million) and suter (1.6 million).

on top of that, 26/27 year old wingers can be had for cheap on the trade market or 4-5 million on the FA market.

play JEEK #1 C, Rossi as 2C, and sign a cheap 3c for ~$2 million. use hte first acquire for hartman at the deadline to either draft another player and build your prospect piple line, or acquire a top 6 winger who is younger than Hartman is.

What is it with VAN teams trying to get player that are unavailable from MN? First it's JEE, who is MN's most important FWD and there is nothing close to an in house replacement for. Now it's Hartman who has a full NMC.

MN is a bad team that has nothing of real value that it can sell off due to NTCs. MN fans would like nothing more than to be able to sell off Foligno, Hartman, and Zucc at the TDL this year as rentals, but we can't because of the new contracts that were given before the season started.

It's really depressing to make a TDL seller team when all you can get is a couple of 3rds (at best) and some late round picks for:
- pending UFAs of Maroon, BoGo, Duhaime,
- hope they waive full NTCs of MAF, and Goli.
- pending RFA of Dewar

Players have waived NMCs and NTCs in the past at the TDL

Not ones that just signed new contracts that haven't kicked in yet and had a NMC retroactively added to their current expiring contracts.
