value is fair don’t think briere would like to trade another 1st rounder after Gauthier. This trade hurts them too much.

Too much, Brink looks really good, Bonk has become one of the best Defense prospects in the league and the 1st.

I like Zegras but hes currently injured, with a game based on speed/agility which injuries affect, and hes not a 70 pt player for this package.

To play Devil's Advocate: let's say Brink and Bonk hit their roughly projected ceilings and become a 2nd line winger and 3D respectively. Even though those are very valuable pieces to have in a lineup, if you think Zegras can be a top line forward (or even better a 1C), that is a way more valuable asset to have in your lineup than a Brink or Bonk. Hell, in theory with smart moves you can probably fill the voids of 2nd line winger or 3D fairly easily in any given offseason with smart asset management and creativity, you can't do that with a 1C. Also don't think the injury thing matters here, Anaheim isn't going to sell him at "injured value" and no team would or should acquire him in the first place if they think he's the level of player he's been since injury.

I'm 50/50 if Philly should do this, but only because I really like Bonk. If they could replace Bonk with another 1st and 2nd then I do this in a heartbeat

This is one of the bigger misconceptions I've seen in recent weeks: Tortorella and Zegras have a positive relationship and I actually think he'd be an excellent coach for Z

And within 6 months he'll be getting the PLD treatment. For his lack of back checking

Then Zegras will learn to backcheck? Tortorella doesn't ask his super offensively minded players to be defensive wizards, he asks them to give a **** about defense and at a bare minimum make an effort on the backcheck and in their own zone, period.

I think Tortorella getting the message across to Zegras "hey, I expect you to give an honest effort every night" and Zegras agreeing to those terms is far more likely than Zegras being a complete and total manchild and saying "lol I only wanna play for teams that don't make me actually play hockey"

You clearly have much more faith than I in Zegras. He very much seems like a prima dona that thinks back checking is beneath him. Torts forced LeCavelier into back checking early in his career. Then lightning GM Jay Feaster has famously told this story many times. Vinny would go into Feaster's office demanding a trade because he hated Torts early on.Feaster had enough of dealing with it sat Vinny down and point-blank said "I don't know what my legacy as TB GM will be however, I can tell you what it won't be. It won't be that of the GM that traded Vincent LeCavelier nor will it be that of the GM that fired John Tortorella. Forcing Vinny to get on board. Does Briere take that same type stance.

Agree mostly, but similar to gautheir trade, we are talking about "projected" on both sides. Ideally as you put it, brink could be a 2RW, Zegras could be a 1LW, the 1st could be a quality player, but Bonk has done nothing since being selected but develop, and at this point I do think his ceiling is probably higher than a 3RD, and I do question Zegras value if its more than a Brink, 1st, and 2nd.

And I have to say if you;re a flyer fan, watching the development and production of current young nhlers in foerster, brink, tippett, cates and frost (and farabee), and looking at Tuomaala (2nd round pick, an AHL all star in his rookie year), Kaplan, Bump, Barkey, Ciernak, Miitchkov THE need to trade Bonk, Brink, and a 1st seems lessened.
