That Blues trade is awful. Sundqvist is a career 20 point scorer who you put in the top 6 and Berard will probably be in the bottom 6 next year (better 5v5 player than Othmann right now)

Sharks decline. We're not retaining 2.5m and letting go of two solid NHL players for 3 nobodies that have a very small chance of making the NHL and an assortment of picks. We'd rather look for quality than quantity by getting back a player like Othmann.

I just dream bigger, as in players. Penguins couldn’t wait to get rid of Granlund. Granted 2.5 is much better than 5. Im not sure SJ has many retention spots either. Maybe one if I’m not mistaken

Because of our tight future cap for the next 2 yrs 1m & -6m, we Have to make trades that accommodate next year's cap.
1 Chytil will be out imo. 2 Buyout Goody or ret 1m. 3 Target Stephenson as Tro 2.O as 3c @ 5.7m. 4 Jones won't cut it. 5 Most kids won't be ready till after next season besides Othmann, maybe Edstrom & Garand imo.
That leaves us with 4m for 2 temporary 1yr 4th line Fs.
Paying top dollar for pure rentals is crazy. Even if we resign a Lindholm, we'd be making big holes shedding others just to fit.
Trick is understanding 25 season cap, with our 24 trades. 26 is crazy -6m, but we have out options like Kreider Trouba Igor, which would hurt losing. Most likely Kreider cause our many F kids by then.

I’d explore trading Shesty if they and he fail this year. Not because he isn’t great, but because of Alleire. He makes gold out of poop. Because he’ll undoubtedly cost us 8-9 million bucks. He hasn’t given me the confidence to invest so much in him this year. Could change tho, just something I’ve been thinking about
