Sure, but he wanted a number 1 centre “something Nashville has never had” but he is still trying to build a winning hockey team. He was willing to trade an expendable asset (Askarov, who will still eventually be traded btw) in order to move up, which he still wanted to do knowing those centres were not there. With building a winning hockey team still being the focus, he definitely could’ve been interested in Reinbacher. None of those centres come with the baggage Michkov does, all of them were centres which Michkov is not, none of them were 5’9 defensive liabilities which Michkov is. Those players are not comparable to Michkov which is exactly why they were all picked ahead of Michkov, and exactly why Michkov probably would’ve continued to fall had Philly not picked him.
Taking swings on players that will "bring fans out of their seats" does not mean drafting a two way defenseman.
Sure, guys like Miro and Dahlin are great back end players to have, but guys like Kaprizov bring fans out of their seats. Michkov fell because you need to wait a years for his contract to end, not because of his attitude. He was a top 5 player otherwise. Be for real.
Nothing you've said follows any plans Trotz had at the draft. And you choosing to ignore any direct quote we've given you just to go on your hunch feeling that tells you "yeah, he wanted our guy" is just crazy. It's all there. He wanted forwards.
