In your opinion, why would Hanifin be a good fit for Chicago?

Eric Francis(one of Flames top insiders) thinks Hanifin is going to resign

Hanifin isn't signing with that dump, Reports are that he either stays with Calgary or goes home to Boston as a FA. No way he's wasting his time on a bottom feeder.

Hanafin is a very good LD, but it makes zero sense for CHI to sign him. We have too much depth at LD as it is, and we likely already have our future top two LD within that group of young LD. Vlasic, Korchinski, Phillips, Del Mastro, Kaiser, Allan, Roos, and more that haven't even received their ELC's yet.

I really like Hanifin but as others have already pointed out the Hawks prospect pool is very deep with LHD. With Vlasic and Korchinski already cutting their teeth in the NHL this season and Del Mastro; who was named to the AHL all star; and Allan getting their first taste of pro hockey in the AHL there would seem to be better uses for cap resources.

Furthermore, if by chance the Hawks did decide to sign Hanifin there would absolutely be no need to resign Zaitsev and Tinordi.

So sign a LD that doesn't fill a need and surround him with the exact same roster as this season? That's quite a plan! Hawks won't be in on Hanifin. Or like 10 of the other guys you re-signed either.

No team that's as far away from contending as this one "must" sign anyone.
