I like this list a lot, I would maybe have celebrini a bit higher and smith a bit lower but overall this list is really solid

What does Garand need to do to get recognized? He was the starter over Cossa on Canada and better numbers so far this year in the AHL and had a great playoffs run

@NHLfan10506 just curious here, but where would you rank guys like Jayden Perron and Felix Unger-Sorum in prospect rankings? Don’t have many problems with the rankings you have here, although I do think Morrow has a higher ceiling than a couple of guys who are higher up on the list.

Yea and Garand still started over him for team canada cause the coaches saw he was better. Cossa got demoted to the ECHL and still has worst stats this year than Garand

Then wait till Garand starts working with the Rangers goalie coach who is a god

Cross is a 21 draft pick, Garand is 2020.

Cossa was in the ECHL yes, at that age Garand was still in the WHL.

In the same age Cossa is now, Garand was an 0.894 and 3.01 GAA in the AHL. Worse

So yes, the 15th overall pick who’s further along in his development than Garand was at that age will get the benefit of the doubt

The rangers goalie coach has nothing to do with Garand as a prospect.

I probably overrank college guys, because I have always followed NCAA hockey. So what I know about Unger Sorums (Unger Sorei?) is primarily what I got from pre-draft and see international tournaments. There will be others who can give better take on Felix.

I like Perron, but he probably has a ways to go before he is candidate for these lists. There are five or six guys ahead of him on that team. Will be interesting how he develops when Gaber and Blake depart.

Morrow is good…(as is Ufko)….and he has been playing the long-game since end of his Freshman year. Last season was disappointing (the team wasn’t good). This year is better. In the last broadcast I saw, they were talking about his work ethic and seriousness away from ice. And I got all bulled up on him. But of all the possible 3rd year signees this April, I do worry a little about Morrow and signability. Especially since there is no AHL team sorted up. In the end, he probably signs and takes DeAngelo role next year. But I wouldn’t expect Faber-esque impact. Skating just not there.

Yeah…not a ton of confidence in my assessment of goalies. Like, is #8 better than #9?….I dunno, I’m just throwing darts with one eye open.

I remember when the Rangers drafted Hank Lundqvist in the 7th round.

Who could've predicted he'd become one of the greatest goalies ever?

Trevor Kidd was drafted ahead of Marty Brodeur. 😬

But at the time it looked like Kidd would be the better goalie.

Leafs traded Tuukka Rask to Boston. Andrew Raycroft turned into Andrew Raycrap.

Who could've predicted Kiprusoff becoming a stud goalie?

Steve Mason had 10 shutouts his rookie season. He was gone from the NHL a few years later.

Goalies. Are. Voodoo.

Yea Garand had trouble adjusting to the pros just like Cossa did, which is why Garand’s playoff numbers are a better measurement of his skill

Cossa was also drafted 15th overall and has the size advantage so he should have way better stats than Garand if he’s this highly touted

And the goalie coach does matter if you take into account future, because Allaire has fixed Quick and turned nobodies into starters (Talbot, georgiev, etc.)

Not only that. Calgary swapped picks with NJD to get Kidd. Broduer was supposed to be a 2nd rounder.

Raycroft was hurt by year off…there were a handful of goalies didn’t come back the same (Turco I think).

Personally I don't think Wright is even on this list. I love Kulich but Celebrini is above him. I'd put him on par with Hagens and both of them above Carlsson. Also I thought Stankoven was primarily a winger, no?

My homer takes, Gushchin replaces Barlow all-together. Especially considering you have Pelletier that high. And Musty is on par with Leonard and Cutter.

Last thing, we can't keep discrediting Perreault because his linemates are high-end play drivers. He's a consistent point machine and I think he should be top 5 (also plays the opposite side of Leonard)

I didn’t pay too much attention to forward positions as most of them will be moved around unless they are a true center. I agree Hagens probably is the highest ceiling here. Kulich keeps making his case to be in that upper tier (which I think includes Carlsson, Hagens, Celebrini and Smith)….and I actually think he provides more offense than Celebrini at next level.

Musty? He has played well…but he is a long ways from Cutter and Leonard level. Wait a year, see if he gets a call-up onto world junior squad.

Musty almost made the Sharks out of camp, and the coaching staff mentioned they wouldn't be surprised if he get's his 9 games after the OHL season at the end of this year. Again that's one of my homer takes, but if you have Dvorsky there, then Musty should definitely be top 10. Not making the WJC team was a huge shock to me but they had like 4-5 other guys that play a similar style

Overall, I think these lists should be more Tier based, or Ceiling/Floor type of thing. There's so much change that can happen in one year with guys this young

That doesn’t change Garand’s ability as a prospect.

The simple fact is Garand hasn’t done nearly enough to make the jump over Cossa. Maybe he does in the future, but he absolutely hasn’t so far.

8 playoff games does not outweigh the 40+ games of 0.900 AHL goaltending that Garand has. Looking at small sample sizes is an awful idea, especially for goalies

I mean I’m not saying here that Garand should be on this list instead of Cossa. Just wondering where he is at all. Some of these goalies haven’t even played any Pro games, so it’s based off prestige
