Avs cannot afford that extension regardless of if Landeskog comes back. Take a look at the long-term outlook of the Avs - they need to sign Rantanen and Makar to deals that will rival Mackinnon's in the next 3 seasons, and still do not have a solution to 2C.

Honestly, best case scenario for the Avs (outside of a Landeskog full return) is Drouin returning on a Lehkonen-type $5m deal if he continues to play this way, rather than trade and hope that someone else gives it to them for double the cost.

A late 1st, a ufa middle 6 forward and a scrub D isn't cutting it. Pens will only move Jake if they are absolutely out of it. This isn't enticing at all.

Guentzel is a prime replacement if Landy is done this offseason. but no, not this season at this point.
