No they're not, Devils and Capitals are two points behind with 2 games in hand. Both have a ,579 winning percetage to the Flyers .575. While they're playing well they're still not a top 4 or 5 team in the Metro.

I agree that he could slot into the top 4 right now. But 1) you already have 2 guys who could be his long term partner in Sanheim and York, and 2) Philly at the end of the day probably isn't a contending for anything without any star players on their roster. They've caught lightning in a bottle this season and ran with it for a while but realistically they will finish at best a bubble team. They are still better off selling pending UFA's this deadline than trying to buy support players
