Think you are setting the Leafs up to lose Knies at the end of 2025. The cap should be around 88 mil in 2025-26, the Leafs would have about 33.9 mil in cap space, with the Nylander extension JT and Marner both get 12+ mil (24 mil total AAV). That leaves about 9.9 Woll should get about 3.5 ish that leaves 6.4 mil McCabe likely gets 3 so now you are down to 3.4 mil for Knies but he should be looking at around 6, not to mention Hildeby likely gets around 1 mil and you still didn't improve the 3rd or 4th lines

Idk Nylander just got 11.5 JT already makes 11 and will be looking for a raise on that and I don't think he will be happy with less than a 1 mil raise, hence the 12+ comment. Not saying I would give it to him just saying that's likely his starting point

Tavares next deal depending on next year probably 2x6 maybe then 1 year deals till he retires my personal opinion

I could be wrong but it did take 11 mil to get him to go to Toronto and that was reported to be a hometown discount at the time. Combine that with the fact that he is still playing at a high level, the cap going up and more and more players playing well into their late 30' early 40's and it wouldn't surprise me if JT wanted 12 mil × 3-5 years and then 6-8 mil on a 1-3 year deal after that
