The Jets don't need bottom sixers and Granlund isn't worth near that much.

Sharks accept.

Granlund is worth it. He's is having a great year. Plays PK and PP, scores nearly a point per game on the worst team in the league. Good passer.

Granlund is a mid six on a good team. He is .78 ppg on the sharks and can play on the power play and penalty kill. At 2.5 mil thats a great player, and he has been playing mostly against teams top two lines this season with Fabian zetterlund and a winger d’jour. At this point i think he’s proved it was just not a fit with the penguins but that he is still a good player. I only included kupari to make the salary work, idk how good or not good of a player he is.

Honestly…Lindholm.
He’s the perfect fit. Age, style, position, everything. He’d adapt to the team style of play almost overnight and would compliment the rest of the team…. It’s that simple.
I’ve been saying it for weeks on here and other sites…it’s time for the Jets to put up or shut up. All in or rebuild… we have 2 yrs of Connor before his contract is up, the new extensions to Scheifele and Helle, and are having a great season..Chevy has been piddling around looking to patch the 2C hole for years with mostly lesser, cheaper, options and nothing has worked…pay the damn price, get the guy we need and move on to the RHD.

In my opinion, if all Chevy can acquire is Granlund, Monahan, or another along those lines, he should be fired…. Enough is enough.

Granlund is a downgrade on Namestnikov and costs more than double at full cap hit. Even at half he just doesn't have a spot above the 4th line.

No thanks, the Jets can't afford to use that much cap on a bottom sixer.

Trades aren’t always that straight forward (Meier to NJ) but I still dont think granny is a bad acquisition if your GM isn’t fully committed to spending big assets who could be a flight risk. However I do get the go all in or not at all, vegas used that model to great success but I think WIN has a bit of a different situation since it would be harder to get UFA’s to stay

This is one of the takes of all time. Granny >> namestntikov. I dont know how someone playing protected minutes (and thriving) who puts up similar points playing with objectively better wingers, on a way better team would be considered better than someone who is playing on the sharks, eating the difficult minutes playing all situations and still putting up better numbers. However, Jets should still keep that system of protected minutes going because its working but better center depth wouldn’t hurt when trying to make a deep run

Edit* Granny is definitely not a bottom sixer

Yeah, I know you want him to be better, but Namestnikov out produces him 5 on 5 and has about the same amount of points with almost 5 minutes a game less ice time.

It is what it is, Namestnikov is better. Don't forget you got Granlund as a cap dump, he hasn't improved much from that.

He might be a top 6 in San Jose, but in Winnipeg he can't beat out anyone in the top 9.

Top 6 in San Jose -> Mid six on a competing team. Again Namestnikov line gets protected minutes - granny doesnt, has worse wingers, and still more points. He drives play. We can both like our guys more, thats fine and part of sports. But for sure granlund has improved immensely from his time in Pittsburg, and is for sure no longer considered a cap dump. He has been very good for the sharks (as good as a sharks player can be). To say otherwise is objectively incorrect.

That's cool. You can make all the excuses for him that you want, but the numbers don't support what you're saying.

Granlund gets 5 minutes more a game playing top line, prime minutes with San Jose's best players and only has 3 more points than Namestnikov with only 17 of those coming even strength.

Namesnikov while playing 5 minutes less of mostly 3rd line minutes with lesser wingers than Granlund had 19 ES points and 22 OA. Namestnikov didn't play regularly in the top 6 until Connor got hurt.

Dollar for dollar, Namestnikov is just better, does more with less in less ice time.

So, there's no incentive for Winnipeg to pay anything for a player that isn't an improvement on what they already have and costs more to boot and has an extra year that Winnipeg doesn't want.

I'm glad you're happy with his play though. He seems to be a good fit in SJ.

Hertl plays with San Jose’s best wingers - grandlund plays with zetterlund (who is fine and having a good year) and whoever else is healthy at the moment. Any combination of perfetti iafallo and nino is better than any winger granlund has played with this entire season. If you dont watch the sharks thats allllll good. Granny might not be the best fit for the jets but he is a better player than sharks legend Nammy

Edit* Granny also does not play on the sharks top line
