Guentzel would be nice but.. MASSIVE overpay here. Remove Silovs Podkolzin and a 3rd or 2nd.

Raty is the only prospects I can find on any list and he is the 4th or 5th prospects on Vancouver, a team ranked 21st in farm systems in the NHL.

I would say a 1st and two of these four, gets a trade done.
Tom Willander, Aatu Raty, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, Elias Pettersson

Some Van fans will think that is too much for a UFA. Generally, I would agree. But when that UFA is 2nd in the NHL in expected goals and has a points / 60 between Draisaitl and Rantanen, you're going to have to pay a lot.

Now if the Pens fall off and don't think they will make the playoffs the price would drop to something like:
1st, one of those guys above, a top 10 prospect (like Karlsson or Kudryavtsev), and Kuzmenko (for cap reasons).

I get that a lot of Vancouver fans will not like this post. But an elite player costs a lot.

The line of Kuzmenko-Pettersson-Mikheyev is one of the worst in the NHL this season. They have a 46% goal share (13 for, 15 against). Replacing Kuzmenko with Lafferty on that line turns it into an 83% (6 for, 1 against).

No line with Kuzmenko has a positive goal share.

You aren’t getting Lekkerimakki or Willander for a pending UFA. A 1st + one or maybe two of Raty/Podz/Hoglander/Brzustewicz/D Petey is a much more likely return. I personally wouldn’t give more than a 1st, one of those guys, and a lower prospect/mid round pick

When the Pens acquired Marian Hossa they traded a 1st, their #1 prospect, and two 15-20 goal scorers.

Honestly, I don't think you're off base. A 1st + Raty + Podkolzon + salary (someone like Kuzmenko). Would make sense.

Van could see it as an upgrade from Kuzmenko to Guentzel

Pit could see it as a change of scenery for Kuzmenko along with two good prospects and a low 1st.

Pit can't be seen as a pure seller, not when they want to compete with their aging core.
