I could see all that happening, and I could live with it. I still hate to see Ceci part of the Duchene deal, but you have to give up something to get something. And I like the salary cap relief going forward. With McDavid signing for so much, I can't see Karlsson taking much less when his deal is up. I wish Edmonton had given McDavid what Crosby is making. I think that would have been generous, especially considering he would still be RFA, but I understand there are many factors.

Couldn't agree more about Karlsson. I got thinking about it the other day and he's going to want to blow Subban money out of the water. I think he will want 12m but get 11. And it better be from the Sens lol. Or somebody going to get hurt real bad.
I'm glad you liked the ideas. I usually try to be as realistic as possible keeping the other teams needs in mind. However these are wishes and I wouldn't be surprised if the Sens came back with the team they have atm. With the signing of burrows, Thompson, and soon to be Pages I and Dzingel. Its going to be tight to resign Ceci, Stone AND Turris next year. Ewe. With other teams getting better around us, it would sure be nice to have some exciting news to chomp on lol

I think that's overpayment for Duchene. Yes, being rid of Ryan's 7 mil is something that needs to be thought about, but that would be trading: A top 9 prospect, a young puck-handling RHD with draft pedigree and good potential, and a 50-60 point player with previous 30 goal seasons, and a 3rd on top of that, for a 50-60 player that had one single 30 goal season and has been no better than Ryan for most of his career. You basically gain a small potential upgrade on Ryan's point total for only two years if Duchene can even return to form at the cost of one of our only RHD, a good prospect, and a pick. And you save a million dollars shifting out Ryan for Duchene.

Ryan Johansen had more consistent performances, and was much younger, at the time he was traded and he got Seth Jones, who wasn't even a 30 point defender at the time and played mostly sheltered minutes on a third line. Honestly, if that market value was still the going rate, Cody Ceci is almost enough. But Sakic wants the world, and everybody overrates Matt because of his performance for 2/8 years. And Colorado doesn't need RHD.
