Leafs don't want to lose Nylander for nothing in Free Agency, this gets them a few things that they want:

- Skill in the Top-6 to replace Nylander (Kerfoot) WHO IS ALSO a center in case one of those guys get injured for a deep playoff run. Nylander is no center.
- SIZE. Sanford is a huge dude and everyone knows power forwards take longer to develop, go back and look you'll see Caps and Blues fans saying this guy is going to score 20-30 goals , could be with the Leafs.
- Futures in some good picks, one of them is Toronto's so you know it'll be in that sweet 55-61 spot (Durzi was picked here!!!)

idk if you missed it but the offer was 1st and Mcartney or Douglas so there's your serviceable prospect. Soderstrom isn't a prospect he's a roster player.

And McCartney and Douglas will likely never get a sniff at full-time NHL action. Soderstrom would. If the offer is just a 1st and a D-level prospect then the trade isn't happening.

I guess explaining my opinion means I'm mad. Pettersson hasn't even been made available as of yet, and in this market Pettersson could get more than what's being offered here. He's not getting an arm and a leg, but he's also not just getting a 1st and an AHL player.
