Domi and Bertuzzi get long term deals elsewhere, Pesce will get more than he deserves elsewhere and Nylander won't get more than 10

I’d be up for re-signing bertuzzi; may be able to get him on long term deal for close to his current aav (production down but hard to argue that he’s not exactly what this team needs). Willy comes in around $10M x 8 imo; his play has dropped off considerably since start of season but he is still a game breaker.

Having Bert and Domi long term just hurts the kids in the pipeline. Makes the Leafs older, slower and MUCH more expensive. Moving Roberts to the 2nd line LW spot to replace Bertuzzi and bringing in an entire new youngblood 3rd line (I propose Voit/Minten/Cowan who should be put together next year on the Marlies as their #1 or #2 line so they can grow and develop as a unit).

Bringing the kids along slowly will help the Leafs with their cap situation and manage it better moving forward while staying young, fast and skilled up front. Save some of the big $$$ for the D where it is most desperately needed.

No way Robertson can play a top 6 role imo, but agree that Minten & Cowan on 3rd line next year would be massive. JT, Bertuzzi + Nylander (or Marner) have been great & Matthews, Knies + Marner (or Nylander) gives us two great lines. Need Bert back next year; still leaves lots of money to upgrade D

Cool, but Domi and Bertuzzi are going to want term next year.

They can go ahead and get term with a crappy team like NAS (a-la O'Rielly and Schenn) or they can take 1 year with a cup contender like TOR. If they take the term deals - NP, can get players just as effective on the URFA market I am sure.

I think both will cash in long term if they can. Maybe Domi stays on a team friendly deal but Bertuzzi is gone next year.

Based on his lack-luster production this year (less than half a point a game despite playing along side 4 of the best forwards in the NHL) I don't see HOW he would be able to "cash in" on a long term deal with any team. He's not young enough and he isn't producing enough IMO. I like him on that 2nd line with JT and Marner - no doubt! But at his current pace... Leafs (or anyone else for that matter) should be able to get him signed for half of what they are currently paying him ($5.5m)
