Vegas can't afford Willy's extension but they can probably afford Marchessault's. And the way March played in last year's playoffs I think they would prefer to keep him.

Jarnkork has zero value to the Flames, Niemela is a decent but not amazing prospect. Basically even in a rebuild Weegar just servers far more value to the team than the 1st and Niemela would

Jarnkrok would have some value for a rebuilding team. A cheap asset that can play in any line puts up 20+ goals and is reliable defensively. You think another 1st on top or you think they would have to add Minten or Cowan to this deal?

Change the 2nd to a 1st or add another 1st? I guess a lot of it matters on what Willy is going to sign for. No one is going to want this at 11M+

Curious as to why you would want to keep him if they are rebuilding? By the time the team gets in contention he will be on the back half of that deal going into his mid 30’s. I get veteran leadership is important but that is a long term. Would make me nervous too because of his style of play, he may be broken down in 4 years.

Because Calgary isn't going to be rebuilding for that long. They literally don't have a choice. Their top prospects (except Honzek) are all ready to make the jump now and the Huberdeau/Kadri deals aren't getting younger. Calgary would either have to sell for 7 years straight and wait out those deals. Think about it. Kadri has 6 years left on his deal. By the time it's done Zary will be 28. At which point they might as well be selling Zary

You are stuck with Huberdeau no matter what. He is under performing on that contract by about 8M but Inthink you could move Kadri. Still some teams looking for top 2C. IMO

Take out the retention on Brodie and drop the price and devils accept.

The exact reason why this trade won’t happen, on top of moving Whitecloud. Marshy and Whitecloud will make less than Willy alone.

Kadri is too old to move without retention and the Flames owner is too cheap to retain on a multi year deal
