It is an extra incentive to take Rakell’s contract. Broz is nothing special.

You literally have zero clue whether he'll be anything special or not. His career so far looks a bit similar to one Bryan Rust... i'd be okay keeping him around and seeing what you have given the fact the penguins have quite literally nothing in the cupboard.

Not to mention in this ACGM example the creator is acting as the yotes are going to playoffs, that means they're viewing Rakell as a piece to help, if they want to buy they aren't getting incentive to take Rakell's contract. Remove smith for "incentive".

Yotes are a very good team. I would highly recommend they not take on Rakells contract though. He has 4 more years left on his contract AFTER this year.

They already have great forward depth.

He’s 7th in scoring on his own college team. He is not projecting well. I doubt he will be a full time NHLer. We need cap space and it’s either Rakell or Rust who would go. I would much rather keep Rust and go for a better winger in the summer like Sam Rinehart.

The Coyotes have a very good chance at making the playoffs. I had them in a playoff spot in my pre-season playoff predictions. They still have work to do, but it wouldn't be crazy if they made it.

They have made some sneaky good moves over the past 2 years.

But I don't think they should make this trade at all.

He has a very easy contract to move or buyout. It’s not a big risk for them.

5m x 4 more years. He is owed 6m next year also. He is already 30 years old. Coyotes are already a cash strapped team.

It doesn't make sense at all in my mind.

I strongly believe it would cost Pittsburgh a 1st round pick to get off Rakells contract at the moment. They may as well keep him at this point and see if he can get back to the player he was last year. I would sell him the moment his value comes back to anything resembling neutral.

Again, I'd much rather wait and see what he shows at a professional level and trust the pro scouts that drafted him in the 2nd round.

Bryan Rust won't get traded and I highly doubt that Rakell would be traded given his contract not to mention he has an 8 team NTC and lets be honest... AZ is most likely on that list. Now idk if he had to submit a list at the start of each season or start of contract (everyone's tend to be different) but pretty comfortable saying Chicago/Arizona/Philly/Columbus/San Jose are 5 of the 8 teams on that list.

I don't think a 1st is the price to move him...

He had a cold start scoring wise to this season and then got hurt but was still playing very sound hockey. He also his second best season of his career in year one of the contract.

Completely agree with you on term/aav making things difficult to move, not sure what the market would look like for him if he comes back from injury and starts scoring again.

Sharks should accept this. A 1st in the 14-20 range is too enticing.

I have no clue what the kid will be but based on the evidence available to me at this point I don’t think he looks like a worthy 2nd rounder. He’s being out scored by guys who went in the 7th round. Regardless of Broz, Rakell is a good candidate for a trade. That 8 team No Trade list is submitted to the team and it is based on his wishes. He came from Anaheim and I’m guessing a return out west to a team on the rise isn’t that unattractive. I don’t think the players care nearly as much about the arena stuff as fans do. Even if they end up in Houston in 2-3 years that’s hardly a bad landing spot. He has a baby and will probably want to be somewhere long term. A young team on the rise whether in Arizona or Houston is not a bad fit. I can see him not wanting any Canadian teams or a SJ though.

Even if a deal took place in the summer, he’s a much more ideal trade candidate than Rust. For one Rust is the better player and he’s been a part of our cup teams. He’s very much at the top of that secondary tier of core Pens players. Rakell was the one good trade of the previous regime’s reign of terror but he isn’t someone I view as a key cog. I think we need to be aggressive for a top 6 winger in the offseason and he’s the guy I’d like to see move to clear more cap space.

17 games of mediocre play doesn’t mean a cap dump. He’s going to have value to someone even if we don’t get much of anything back. You attach 1sts to move real garbage. Think of something like the Kassian dump.

I think the Yotes could make better additions to their team than those players. Rakell's contract length is too much and Ferraro is good but I think giving up their 2024 1st is a highly questionable move

They could make major additions if they wanted to part with really valuable futures but that’s a bad idea. You don’t win cups by trading major building blocks. These two trades are low risk trades.

Ferraro is not worth a 1st, change it to a 2nd (dealers choice) and it is a better deal.

Rakell is a decent player, but his contract is not worth the risk for what he brings, he is already in his decline. Broz, B- prospect is just that, something to have in the barn as a trade chip or maybe something worthwhile in the future but, meh. Honestly would rather keep Smith as a B- prospect that could become a depth center in a couple years. They are always valuable.
