RW prospect can be whichever one of Holtz/Stillman/Mercer that the teams agree on.

18th Jan is when Devils have enough cap space to make this trade.

This deal can happen at the deadline without the 7d swap as NJ will have accrued enough cap space by then.

Deal can happen earlier by Devils sending a player down and running a short roster.

2nd rounder probably conditional 1st in the same vein as the Meier deal last season based on playoff performance.

Those are 3 very different levels of asset. Mercer and Holtz are not on the table in any gibson trade. 1 for 1 for a 50% retained gibson and I'd still say no.
Stillman is worth like a 3rd tops

Regardless. Gibson is the 3rd highest paid goalie in hockey. He is not a top 15 goalie in the league right now, and has been below average the last few years.

He will likely be the 7th highest paid goalie over the course of his deal. There are 20+ goalies I think will be better over that time.

At 6.4 million dollars you'd have to pay me a 1st to take on gibson

Mercer would never have been available in a trade...Holtz might have been available two months ago, but not now...if the Ducks want Stillman, the Devils won't let that hold up a trade.

If the Ducks eat 50% of Gibson's contract, I could see Vitek, Stillman and a draft choice going for Gibson. I see no reason why the Devils would swap out Miller for Hagg, who can't even get regular ice time with the Ducks.

Ducks aren't retaining on Gibsons salary, far too much term left.

I doubt Holtz is getting moved now that he's shown offensive spark.

I think the best RW Anaheim's gonna get from NJ is G Clarke.
