Markstrom has done poorly for 2 years now also. With how the rest of Edmonton cap is structured, they would really benefit from unloading Campbell and getting a guy who makes less than 3m.

Tanev would be a good add though.

Problem here I don't think anyone is remotely interested in taking on Campbell. Don't matter how much sugar dust you spray on it.

Well he can be offloaded. It’s just a matter if the Oilers want to pay the price. Oilers aren’t scouting various teams with Campbell replacements for no reason.

I suspect they won’t pay the price though since Campbells buy out is very manageable.

Markstrom has better sv% and less goals per game than Skinner this year, and was close last year with 9 more games played.

He's better than his stats say, and definitely an upgrade over Campbell.

His high danger sv% is well above average last I heard.

The price is too high to offload in my mind. Problem number two, how many goalies have gone from good to awful in the Oilers organisation? Not first time they invest in a goalie that they had to get rid off as soon as the Inc dried up on the new deal. It is unfortunate. And I don't really know why that keeps happening?

Cause defence sucked under Woodcroft. It’s now been fixed though and we are now one of the net defences in the League. Can even squeeze a near shutout out of Cal Pickard now. Honestly if Jack comes back he’s probably a .920 goalie behind this defence.

Yeah this year. I'm just saying it has been a reoccurring theme the last 10-15 years or so. I'm not a hater. I used to love the Oilers. And I still have a little bit of a soft spot for them. But there is a lot of goalies circling in EDM and it ain't all Woodcrofts fault.

It’ll take too much time to properly address your comment that includes 15 years of hockey. So yes I’ll just agree with whatever point you’ve made, Oilers has had bad goalies in past.

I think you misread my comment. What I was pointing at was they get a new goalie, he does good for like a season, when they sign him long-term his play falls apart. Sort of they same that was issue for Flyers. So my point is they shouldn't go out and hunt for goalies just to be back in the same problem. Those haven't been bad goalies you guys had the last 15 years. They gotten bad playing many seasons in EDM, and that is the issue.

I actually disagree, there hasn't been any good goalies that have come into the organization over the last decade and a half. Talbot is the only guy I can think of, and he still played really good here for 3 years, and only in the 4th and final year was he a negative asset. You look at all the goalies we've brought in the last 5 years or so -- Smith, Koskinen, Campbell, Montoya, Stolarz, they were all *meh* at best until they got here. Koskinen, Smith played better than they did before coming here. Campbell fell off a mental cliff, and Montoya and stolarz were never good to begin with. It's not like they bring in elite goalies and the defense sags them so bad that they get terrible.
