Description
For the record I don’t really want lindholm because he’ll be expensive at the end of his next contract, but hope the bruins accept this isn’t a cup year and hopefully get some either long term help or draft capital.

Then change the condition to top 3 for Vezina or win a championship for a first. A 3rd is not a needle mover for the downside risk. If Boston is taking that risk, New Jersey has to take more a risk that has equal ramifications on the other side.

Either way, I don’t think Calgary does that and can do better in individual trades.

Maybe with retention they get more, but saving that cap space and those retention slots could get them a couple more 3rds at the deadline.

Lindholm (Horvat comp): 1st 2nd 3rd (they get from another move using the retention and cap they saved).
Hanifin (Lindholm comp): 1st + Bahl +3rd (they get from another move using the retention and cap they saved)

Hampus Lindholm retained got a 1st, a lower level young Dman than Bahl, a 2nd, and a second to pay for the multi year cap dump of Moore

Horvat retained got a 1st, roster filler, and decent prospect

Feels like that’s about as well as you can do for 2 rentals

Idk what you’re saying about this low upside.

Best case scenario for Boston:
Ullmark plays fantastic
Ullmark+2nd for Lindholm+1st

Upper-Middle case: where ullmark is quality both years
Ullmark for Lindholm

Lower middle case: where ullmark is quality 1 year:
Ullmark+2nd for Lindholm+3rd

Worst case (where ullmark doesn’t reach standards either year)
Ullmark+1st for Lindholm

Seems pretty reasonable to me

But right now you’re saying NJD isn’t giving up enough in the biggest scenario, when that biggest scenario is this for NJD

in: Hanifin, Ullmark
Out: 1st, 1st, 1st, Bahl

And they’re lowest case scenario is:
In: Hanifin, Ullmark
Out: Bahl 1st, 2nd

All I’m saying is that you are asking for a downside risk, I want an equal upside opportunity for taking that risk. I don’t view a 3rd round pick for a top 5 Vezina performance as a fair trade off. Nothing more.

Of course they do.
It's if they want to move those assets.

You are fully aware of what meant. Why make a pointless comment

I can simplify it (bc the 3 team portion with a 1st+2nd going to calgary for lindholm complicates it):
Ullmark fails to meet standards: 2nd. (Sub 0.915, 60% starts)
Ullmark meets standards: 1st (above 0.915, 60% starts)
Ullmark plays quality in 1 year: 1st+3rd (above 0.920, 60% starts)
Ullmark plays quality in both years: 1st+2nd (above 0.920, 60% starts)
Ullmark plays elite/devils win cup: 2 1sts. (vezina/cup)

I wouldn't include vezina voting in the "quality tier", but if you think it's more likely than a 0.920 you can have it.

Should recieve plenty of easy vezina consideration if he takes over for NJD, provides even just above average goaltending, and wins a ton of games.

And just get Calgary to agree.. I think unfortunately, it’s too complex, even though I see the value creation benefit for both Boston and NJ.

Yeah, obviously real NHL gms aren't going to make things as convoluted as this, (this would be the most convoluted and complex deal in NHL history basically). But value wise I think it makes sense for all involved.

I'd be hesitant to do it as NJD fan, you're hesitant as a Boston fan, and Calgary fans would be hesitant. But all 3 teams trade surpluses for needs, which. likely means it's pretty damn fair (and it's in line with comps imo)
