If Kessel wants more then league min I'd rather give a shot to one of the kids playing on the farm. And that's too low for Bear

I don't think that's too low for Bear. He had 2.2M AAV last season, with a quarter of the way through the season already that would value his contract over 82 games to be closer to 2.3M because it's divided over the remaining games.

I think if you lowball him and not factor in a raise 2.5-3m a team with cap space (like San Jose or Anaheim) for him will give it to him.

If that was the case, why haven't San Jose or Anaheim offered him anything? It's because he wants to stay in Vancouver.

And as I said again if you lowball him he probably will sign elsewhere did we not learn with Tanev to treat people who want to be here right?

What are you talking about?

This isn't a lowball offer, this would be the equivalent of his cap hit from last season, spread out over a shorter period of time.

There are 140 days remaining in the season. Bear signs for 1.75M.

140/192 = 0.416~

1-0.416 = 0.584

1.75M / 0.584 = 2.99M

That would mean Bear gets the equivalent of 3M pay rate for the rest of the season.

Its like if you have two job offers:

A) $100k for 12 months ($273/day)

or

B) $85k for 9 months ($314/day)

You'd make more money over the 9 months at Job B, than you would over the same 9-month period at Job A.
