Teams at the TDL don't give up roster players for rentals as the idea is to add to your lineup not give up depth. No from Winnipeg.

@windjammer - Which roster players are they giving up? Stanley has played 3 games this year and heinola *checks notes* zero.
Both are great fits for Calgary and Winnipeg gets a better demelo to play with Morrissey. You still have NHL ready - Capobianco and Chisholm.

Winnipeg Ends up with.
Morrissey - Tanev
Dillon - Pionk
Samberg - Demelo

Calgary (moved on from Zadorov, Hanafin and Tanev -- and will probably get more of a haul for Z and H)
Heinola - Andersson
Stanley - Weegar
Gilbert - DeSimone

Maybe check your notes again and you'll see that Heinola has been injured all year which accounts for his lack of games. Other than that he is NHL ready and had earned a roster spot out of camp.

You're welcome to Stanley in the deal, but no chance Heinola is moved for a rental.

A healthy Heinola is not taking a spot from anyone on the left side. He'd replace Schmidt on the right for skill but not personality. Next year Chisholm and Salomonsson pass him in the depth chart. End of march, Heinola is gone.

Possibly, but the Jets aren't throwing him away on a rental. The idea is to add depth at the TDL, not lessen it.

You've got to be kidding. Tanev is worth a lot more than a fringe player (Stanley) and an undersized AHL player like Heimola.

Calgary declines hard!
