Could the flames get Cowen instead of Minten or Abruzzese if they are retaining? Possibly. I only said Abruzzese because a couple flames reporters have floated that Calgary is interested in him. The first is tablestakes. After that, we're just quibbling on the quality of prospect and even within that structure, Leafs don't have an A+ guy to offer. Cowen probably considered A-/B+, Minten B, Abruzzese C+.
