They moved Vladar for a 3rd last time they had a goalie log-jam, he was younger at the time too (23 versus 25) and had played NHL games and shown some real promise. Bussi has been really good in the A, and the organization is high on him, so maybe a third realistically, or a 2nd depending on how other teams value him around the league

My guess is they only include him in a deal if it involves an upgrade in the top 6. He hasn’t been as consistent this year as last, but plus athleticism and technique for a prospect.

They have two other goaltenders in Svedebeck ( Providence College) and Dyck (Swift Currebt WHL) that look promising as well.

25 with no NHL games tells me a 4th honestly. So maybe to rich for my blood

Kunin isn’t really worth the 4th when you have internal options that are no worse.

Rather just go with Steen/McLaughlin. In that roster spot.

Always UFA route that cos6s zero assets as well.

25 is more a function of his path to where he is at than his talent level. He didn’t grow up in the spotlight. He churned, improved, and grew through hard work. Barely got a scholarship at Western Michigan only to lead them to the frozen four.

A 3rd or a 4th likely doesn’t even garner a discussion with the current makeup of the team. Hes an ideal 3rd goalie in Providence. A goalie has a small tweak, he gets a shot.

I’ll go one step further. I prefer our internal options to Kunin for the role they’d play. kunin isn’t going to outperform Heinen who we signed for the minimum or Geekie. There really is no point in acquiring him.

I have a degree of interest in Duclair, but part of me would prefer to give Lyselll a chance before making that type of acquisition.

Your very Biased IMO arguing a 25 year old netminder with no NHL experience is worth a 2nd and Kunin who is a decent young NHL player (same age) isn’t worth a 4th.

Where I argue both are worth a late 3rd early 4th at this time

If the cap is only going up by 1 million and they’ve won with the group they currently have, why would you change ANYTHING? Why not offer Forbort a little less or the same for 1 more year to try and repeat? And if Grzelcyk helps you win, why would he take less? And why a 4 year deal for Shattenkirk? I just don’t understand the thought process here!

I’m not saying Bussi is worth a 2nd. I’m saying they probably don’t have a discussion based on their current cap situation if it’s a 3rd or a 4th. There is a difference. Most mid round picks become middling prospects that are indifferent from an AHL free agent.

My guess is they believe Bussi will be a very good cost controlled goalie long term. If they are making him available for a fourth round pick, I’d question securing him because Essensa/Dunahm has arguably the best track record identifying what will stick.

That’s not a criticism. It’s a given though. I’d rather have a 3rd rounder than not, but for good teams … cap mgmt is worth more. San Jose and Boston are in different places.

Under no circumstance, would I view Kunin as anything more than a bottom 6 forward for Boston and Boston has depth in that area with players who are in a similar range of player (who also make less). It’s not a rip. It’s a reality when dealing with a trade between these teams. Gotta consider both sides rather than just one

Duclair probably has value to Boston. Kunin likely won’t.

Fair point, your argument is valid and reasonable.
