Description
Did the draft sim 1 time and got the Habs 3rd. Sharks and EDM are 1 and 2

SJS: Cellebrini
EDM: Demidov
MTL: Levshunov

Now hear me out, Levshunov is the best D man to be drafted since Power. Hed solidify the Habs top 4 of Hutson, Levshunov, Guhle Reinbacher. And in my gm, they plan on signing Draisaitl and Stamkos to long term deals. Habs top 6 is finished and the likes of Roy, Beck, Farrell, etc, who will join the team in either 2024-2025 or 2025-2026, can round off the bottom 6. A goalie would be the only position missing and the 2025-2026 FA class is very strong for goalies. Saros, Shesty, Hill, Vejmelka, Thompson, and many RFAs like Oettinger, Wallstedt, Askarov, Levi and Dostal. So finding one after Allen shoudlnt be hard, either by trade or signing.

Habs will have 34m to resign Draisaitl, Guhle, and a starter in the 2025 offseason. If any cap issues do arise between 2025-2027, you give up some draft picks to move Gallagher or trade away Matheson

So the end lineup in like 2027 should be

Draisaitl - Suzuki - Stamkos
Caufield - Dach - 2025 1st rounder
Newhook - Beck - Roy
Farrell - Monahan - Heineman/Mesar

Guhle - Reinbacher
Hutson - Levshunov
Xhekaj/ Struble/ Trudeau - Barron/ Mailloux/ Konyushkov

Saros
Fowler

The UFA rate on PPG+ 30 goal players with stanley cup pedigree is not 6 mill AAV. You're also banking on every single one of your prospects hitting, which just isn't reality.

Contender's simply don't run out 6 22 year olds and call it a defensive core. They'd get cooked.

Most 33 year olds dont get 6 year deal, with most of it being signing bonuses. Habs can do that to lower the AAV. And age doesnt matter if they are good enough. The average age for a cup winning team is 26. In 2026 when they should start competing, theyll be average age of 24, giving them 4-5 good years of contending together with no real changes. Most prospects make it. Every prospect i named are doing well in their senior leagues and Beck is doing well in the OHL. They may not hit their ceiling but im noit asking that of the bottom 6 players. Their flow is good enough

Here's the list of teams with more than 2 under 25 dman logging 18+ minutes a night:
San Jose Sharks
Montreal Canadiens

Real recipe for a contender.

Stamkos has 81 goals and 205 points in his last 175 games. He isn't signing 6x6. In terms of comparable UFA deals (guys over 30 when it starts), you're looking at the backstrom contract, the Ovi contract, the ones that get REAL ugly at the end.

You're asking for Stamkos to sign with a worse team, to play in ****tier weather, with worse taxes, in front of one of the worst media's in hockey, and you're asking him to take a lower AAV than Killorn got.
6x6 is 36. He can go get 9x4 if he wants.

I get what he is trying to do here and commend him for trying but yea
Draisaitl with an extension costs more than that by a lot! Guy is top 5, arguably top 3 C in the league and is young and that extension will run 8 x 13 maybe more.
And cost you 3 1sts Reinbacher and Suzuki.

Stamkos I do think will be listening to 8x5 offers at the bare minimum and with his injury history I don’t think it’s wise! He might be a Pavelski and prove everyone wrong but odds are his next deal doesn’t age well.

Montreal already has a strong RD group, I would grab Eiserman or Demidov over Levshunov though I don’t disagree with your assessment of Levshunov!

Patience I think is more logical here and let the team mature and grow rather than trade away that amount of young assets. Doin lg these kind of deals could hamper this rebuild and throw you right back into another.

Oh and with the way Anderson is playing sharks want nothing to do with that contract, especially for that little of a return. We already have 1 of your castoffs eating up cap room with zero return.
