Leafs don’t have the cap for that and we need help on defence more than offence

Why rebuild and yet trade for UFA Lindholm.
Also those young guys and a single 1st rounder won't get him IMO

The Calgary trade makes no sense. We are in a Rebuild. In a rebuild we KEEP 1 round draft picks.

The point of this post is probably not to rebuild lmao. I want to rebuild but if the team ends up too good to. Truly rebuild Briere is going to have to make a choice to further tear it down or to start to prepare for the future already.

As for Lindholm if he is leaving and isn’t coming back that’s more than enough for him.

Sure better for Calgary to get something instead of nothing and if that's the best offer then fine I'll take it but, why does Philly trade for him?

It depends on how this team looks in March. I prefer they spend a few years rebuilding but if this team is semi-competitive come March you can’t just mass sell and kill the season. Torts and Danny have talked a ton about culture and building the right locker room well if this team worked crazy hard to stay in the hunt then it would send the complete wrong message to them at the deadline by destroying that season. Realistically the Flyers need a 1C still for the future so if we can acquire him this year then why not

The whole idea of getting Lindholm is to resign him, hes a good two way 1B center who is a playmaker on a team full of young wingers who like to shoot: Koneckny, tippett, brink, gautheir, etc....

Couturier and Cates are good 2 way centers, but not the passer Lindholm is, and it would give them an abiove average 1-3 down the center spot (an organizational weakness).

The only reason PHI sacrifices a 1st is to resign him, they;ll roughly have about 15mil in cap and not a bunch of holes so easily could give him up to 9-10mil. Hes 28 yrs old and fits the rebuild and a need, he should be able to maintain his talent for 4-5 yrs or more.

For CGY they have alot of UFAs. I dont believe they'll get a number 1 center for Lindholm in trade, but frost/Kadri/backlund could be good, Attard is a good RD who would be 1st or 2nd among young guys at that position (on defense they have UFAs in RD Tanev, LD Hanifan, LD/RD Zadorov, LD Oesterle). Frost had 46 pts last year on a team that couldnt score, signed for 2 yrs at 2.1mil and just 23-24. Attard and a 1st in a good top heavy (top 20) draft is probably close to what other teams will offer

I think the risks for Philly out way the benefits, You have Couturier back who despite his injuries is still good and only 2 years older as the current 1C and Michkov who apparently has switched to playing Center in the KHL and Philly might be bringing in as soon as next season (I'd like to point out that Fedotov fiasco might benefit Philly because I'm sure everyone in the organization is well educated on everything you need to know about dealing with Russians).
I'm sure the money for Lindholm will matter but, teams like Florida, Dallas, Arizona etc could offer him almost as much and nicer weather and lower taxes. I personally wouldn't gamble a 1st rounder on him falling in love with Philly from February to April, especially after having just gotten away from Darryl Sutter might not want another hard ass for a coach in Torts
Not a terrible idea, just one I would personally very much avoid

Well no I wouldn’t do the deal unless the deal is contingent on him signing an extension immediately. I also think Cutter and Michkov end up as LW1 and RW1 for us so I still think we need a 1C for them to let Coots be a really good 2C because Coots and his surgeries will only show more and more with his age even tho he has been great so far
