Seattle needs scoring

Créé par: SGB88

Description
The Canucks need more role players and Seattle needs more scoring. Boeser looks like he's got his scoring touch back. Garland drives scoring on his own. Could some sort of swap work?

Seattle is shooting like 2% right now, doesn't make sense for them to make a huge gamble like this

Gourde > Boeser
Larsson > Garland
This trade makes no sense for Seattle IMO, also they have no good center option to replace Gourde

I know Canucks media and fans talk a lot about moving money from the wings to defense and centre - "the reallocation of cap space" - and I like the concept and agree with it. One of the challenges with a trade like these, or even one that moves a guy like Garland along, is the Canucks don't have a lot of wing depth. This proposal really highlights that for me. In particular, the left side is WEAK. Unless guys like Hoglander and Podkolzin really step up this year, I just don't know how Vancouver can move two wingers without suffering offensively (an area that the underlying metrics already suggest they are expected to regress).

I think you can move one, and it is likely Garland given the rumours. But I think you have to hold on to Boeser because of the offense he brings, his ability to play shutdown minutes on JT's line, and so that you aren't forced to rush a guy like Podkolzin into the lineup later this year. Ideally he can stay in the AHL most of the year and have a year where is gets to be the guy and be in a consistent team environment.

But yeah...that wing depth is not great..

This is definitely a trade-off. I don't argue moving out both Boeser and Garland significantly impacts our winger depth. To be clear I like both players a lot and I hate to move them out, especially Boeser. I'd rather trade Beau than Boeser, but I don't think it gets it done.

I think you just need to find a way to get cheaper depth on the wing. I think Hoglander can do that. If not there's so many other options coming up Podz, McDonough, Lekkermaki, etc. With the above set up you've got good/expensive center good/expensive winger, plus other. That gives you the winger, center pair that Tochett and others talk about.

Another option is you go two cheap wingers on the third line and you can put Beau or his replacement on the first line.

Canucks don't do this for lots of reasons, main reason there is no need to do anything with their top 6 except maybe 1R, and I don't think Seattle wants to gut their defense to add some scoring for sure its not happening in the same division. if you want find a trade maybe look for a Right shot C that can play up and down the lineup

Oh, I know it's not happening for sure. Let's give it a .01% chance. This more let's do something interesting that could work for both teams.
