They're not good defensively. They're liabilities. Domi is a good passer, but Leafs need more stable and gritty bottom six forwards. Acciari was the perfect 4th liner. And Schenn elevated Rielly's game.
Did tree bring them in to be good defensively no
See what were not getting is these GM's and hockey departments know who these players are. Oh there bad defensively you think the team doesnt know that.
They dont care they brought them in for other reasons
Last season Domi had 13 points in the playoffs. In comparison Marner lead the leafs with 14. He also had 56 points and 20 goals in the reg season
Domi looked very good this game and if we can get more of this were set for our third line or potential LW partner for Matthews
As for Klingberg hes what was expected. Everyone knew 5 on 5 defense would be an issue but PP and 6 on 5 hes what was expected.
Again were relying on small sample size for Schenn and Acciari
Schenn's not a top pair guy looked good in 11 games but lets be real he could not be Rielly's parter a full 82 game season thats to high for him at this point. Acciari yes would have been nice but so far its been crickets for him. Just 400k cheaper Kampf whose got more points than him rn. Either way no difference
Cause for Klingberg yes not great but as we saw our Dcore has ranked last in production almost every year. Someone else but Rielly got to score. While he isnt the greatest choice if he gets going we got something. As yes 5 on 5 yikes but PP and 6 on 5 we see what he brings.
