Montreal has a lot of picks, prospects, forwards and dmen. They don't have a ton of goalies.

I would keep Montembeault over the pick.

Goaltending is their weakest organizational position. Although they seem to have drafted a goalie stud this past draft. He may be a few years away though.

I understand your point but they cannot afford to loose Primeau on waivers. And Dubes has been very good.

Fair enough. I assume Primeau clears though. His numbers in the NHL aren't great (although limited play) and his AHL stats are very mediocre. I doubt he is the goalie that Tampa would be looking for.

Primeau has been fantantic in the recent (2 years ago) Laval Rocket playoff run. He will not develop into a elite number one goalie but he could be a very second one. Montenbeault seems to give up a bad goal every game. I know he was good at the world cup but that is very different than playing in Mtl.

So, by your own admission Monte "gives up a bad goal every game" yet you expect a 3rd in return ? Think about that. Does that really from a TB stand point make sense to you? If that's the cost they wait for Toronto to waive either Jones or Woll) they're not carrying 3 goalues) or Philly Sandstorm, or Detroit Lyon or Florida Stolarz all likely waiver candidates.
TB counters with a 5 at best take it or leave it

Basically this dude says that Primeau looks better in the AHL than Montembault in the NHL.

Well duh. Talk about flawed logic here.

Your logic is kind of right. A fifth rounder is better than loosing Primeau on waivers.

I'm pretty sure Primeau won't clear waivers. And Montembeault contract expire this year. Primeau contract expire in two years. Neither one of the two will bring us to the Stanley. That is why getting some kind of value for the transition. I was impress by Dobes in the preseason games.

Montembeaut will resign soon enough. He's been pretty clear he wants to stay and the team needs him.

Just let Primeau go, he's no NHL material.
