Vegas made it clear they weren’t moving him. They got calls but said he wasn’t available for a trade. And he’s very good, he’s young and locked for the next 2 years and 760k.

There is no potential to any trade between these two teams that sees Thompson in Colorado. The knights simply have no incentive to trade him for anything short of an upgrade at another position on the roster and a 3rd in 2025 is not that. His play + contract make him far too valuable to the team to trade him for anything less than a gross overpay

Thompson would have been a great pick up a couple of seasons ago (when I advocated it myself) but bar a huge overpay I can't see Vegas parting with him. He's also arguably not a good target for the Avs as they can't risk waiving him once Frankie comes back (you can guarantee he'd be claimed) so they've got to then carry 3 goalies on the roster. I also doubt anyone parts with a 4th for MacDermid though I know GMs tend to value guys like him higher than we do on CF.

When thinking about trades and if you want a realistic ACGM think about what both teams need, and in some cases like VGK and COL would they even be willing to help each other. Thompson is far more valuable than the proposed trade, but VGK isn’t helping COL one of their primary western conference rivals do anything.

MacDermid has zero trade value in the league, as a dman he is very arguably the worst in the NHL.

Except......he's not even a D man any more by all accounts! LOL!

Which is honestly the right call by Bednar. He had his better games at Forward last year and that's where he should prove himself as a player. He won't, but that's where he should try. My guess is we might move him for a 7th before he hits waivers.
