IMO the Leafs can't go with six NHL Dmen, and hope that any Dmen with the Marlies are good enough to be called up and play NHL minutes.

Players can sign a contract and still not be part of the Leafs, and not affect affect the cap. Gregor, Benoit, Jones, Clifford with NHL experience. Of course any Marlie once they play for the Leafs affects the cap.
