Looks good, but alot is dependent on why they got bounced in 1st round.

If the defense or goaltending let the team down, maybe demelo and raanta aren;t enough, especially with 6mil in cap space left. Maybe a better/bigger UFA?

Maybe too much youth on the 2nd and 3rd line especially at wing?

After not making the playoffs in 12 years I don't care if we show up in the playoffs and literally take a collective dump on the ice

24-25 will be Quinn and peterkas 3rd full NHL season btw.

Kulich will have had 2 professional seasons at this point and savoie will be in his d+3 season
Hammerwise a aimé ceci.

Isn’t it more likely that Power signs a bridge? Why would he accept less (on max term deal) than Dahlin 🤔? I get he’s behind him in development but that’s simply age

I like it. you could include Novikov on the back end. 1 year in the AHL and he should be ready. Johnson or Novikov.

Sanderson is his comp. Not dahlin. Dahlin also bought out 7 UFA years, not 4

You’re proving my point re ufa years; why would Power not simply sign a 3 year bridge (like Dahlin) coming off elc & then sign a max term deal ? Would be a lot more than $8M. And Dahlin is exactly his comp; both drafted 1st overall, put up similar points in year 1 (Dahlin padded stats by playing PP b/c team was so terrible they played a rookie on PP1). Think you’re fooling yourself if you believe Power & his agent would sign that

Power played on the power play as well. He simply isn't and won't be the point producer dahlin is.

I'm handing a guy who has played 87 games 68 million bucks

Of course he might be bridged, but again, this is more than Sanderson and quite reasonable.

Dahlin was also bridged coming off 1.5 years of Ralph Krueger assassinating his career.

Again; Just questioning why power would do that, especially when guy on same team (almost identical comparable) signs for much more. Throw in that the cap is projected to go up every year, no chance imo but 🤷🏻

Weird that you would dump on Power after a rookie season that was very similar to Dahlin’s rookie season. Both drafted #1 overall . Again no chance, imo Power signs a deal like that But you do you

Dumping on a guy while handing him 8.5 million a season for as long as legally allowed after playing 87 games.

You are an interesting fella

Let’s see - I could sign 3x$6 + 8x$10.5 or $11 or 8x$8.5. Tough call 🤔

I suppose we'll see.

I don't see a 50ish point defensemen getting 11 million a year, which is what Power will be since dahlin will always be on PP1

So let’s say he does 3x6 and 8x10.5, that’s 102 million in 11 years, and he’ll be 32 when it’s done. If he does the 8x8.5, he’ll be 29 when it’s done, and he’ll have made 68 million. With the cap going up, and assuming that Power becomes elite (as we were with the 8x10.5 deal) shouldn’t a defenseman still in his prime be able to make 11.3 million for 3 years to make up for that difference? And wouldn’t it be easier to sign a lucrative long term 7/8 year deal at 29 instead of 32?

Don’t the Sabres play 2D on PP1? But I do agree it’ll be interesting to see how this shakes out; can’t say I understood why Sabres would draft 2 dmen with 1st overall picks so close together but good problem to have

There’s lots of permutations but basic question remains the same; why would Power sign max term deal to accept less than Dahlin when cap is projected to rise every year. I don’t watch the Sabres but from a distance they are pretty much comparable

You keep losing me. Both were drafted #1 overall, both finished 3rd in Calder voting. Dahlin put up 9 goals / 44 points (20 on PP) in his rookie season, Power put up 4 goals / 35 points (8 on PP). Other than Dahlin playing in his 6th season vs 2nd for Power , their career paths are almost identical. But I guess that doesn’t fit the narrative you’ve created

Dahlin played as an 18 year old, power went back to college

Dahlin hit major career roadblocks on his elc, which also saw multiple coaches and a gm get fired which contributed both to a dip in play and a bridge contract.

Power isn't the point producer that dahlin was.

Dahlin also played 3 full seasons on his elc. Power's first elc year was burned with 8 games.
