He’s got good numbers as a back up on a very good defensive team. If you put either of those goalies in front of that D-core they will get destroyed. Seeler might be the 8th defenseman on the flyers this year who have one of the worst D-cores in the league and you expect him to play 1LHD on this team?

Thompson is perfectly average by advanced metrics. Average is enough with this top 6.
My understanding was that Seeler is an analytical darling but I may have confused him with someone else

Seeler has great analytics but that is also because he plays sheltered minutes. Same with Thompson, he’s a back up. When u ask a back up to suddenly be a starter their stats will change because they have a larger work load to take on. Maybe his stats drop because he is not used to playing so often and is fatigued from it as opposed to playing once a week. The Leafs and Oilers prove every year you can’t win with a good top 6 and terrible everything else

Can't compete? They're top 10 teams every year! The only reason they haven't made a deep run is that playoffs are random
No lol they are not good enough to win a cup or they would have
By your logic only one team in the league is "good enough to win the cup" every year, and if you say that's true then you have to admit that Boston after their record-setting season and perennial wagon Carolina also aren't good enough

Sorry but Toronto losing in the 1st round every year and Oilers never making it close to a cup proves that their style of build is not suited to win a cup. I truly don’t care what you say cause the facts and stats are on my side. The most well rounded and deep teams win every year. Tampa had crazy depth and was well rounded, Vegas the same. It’s impossible to win by only trying to score as much as possible. Offense wins games, defense wins championships. It’s why both Leafs and Oilers are regular season wagons and playoff busts. Carolina had injuries and lost some of their depth. Boston choked.
