I don’t understand all the DeSmith to New Jersey trades. Is it a cool idea? Yes. Does it make sense? No. Not at all. They have Akira Schmid who is NHL ready, and should backup Vanecek. Have him be the backup for a year, then after that, he could pass Vanecek and become that starter. He did very well in his 30 or so games he played last year (including the playoffs), and a few of them were in the playoffs! It just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Devils will have no cap to do anything at the TDL if you get the criminal at full price. Schmid will be the back up, he proved it last season but fitzy choose the bum blackwood over SChmid and waited till to playoff to finally realize that Schmid was better. I love Fitzy but man he is clueless whne it comes to goalies. I personally dont listen to Seravalli or anyone until it actually happens. Fitzy gonna make a huge mistake if he send schmid down. Cuz im sorry there isnt a goalie out there worth being a backup that i trust. If they wanted a meh goalie they couldve resign Blackwood. Just sign old man Halak for league min you save money.
