No way that happens, Lilly was the best right shot dman for most of the season, he struggled later in the season but he is signed for a steal and he is only 24.

He won't be a steal when his extension at the end of this year will cost more than $3m - and... gotta get under the cap SOMEHOW - not gonna move anyone in top 6 by the looks of things (Nylander) - bottom 6 - Domi/Reaves/Kampf just got signed so - nothing happening with them. Robertson is cheapest option on the wing - so he (or McMaan) is locked in - Jarnkrok is too useful up and down the lineup and too affordable for what he brings to move - that leaves Lafferty - demote him and he gets claimed - so that's a waste - trade him and the Leafs are still over the cap - so that is pointless. Rielly/Brodie + McCabe/Klinberg are locked in - Gio is super cheap so he is locked in on bottom pairing LD - that leaves 1 option... trade Liljegren or Timmins - well... trading Timmins - like Lafferty - does NOT get the Leafs cap compliant - SO!!!... Liljegren it is! No other options (unless someone else, with a bigger contract, like Murray, MAGICALLY gets injured and gets put on LTIR - LOL!)

Lilly is a luxury to have at this point - Timmins can slot in effectively enough, Niemela is in the system as well - Klingberg and Brodie are UFA next year so... LOTS of cap space and LOTS of empty RD slots and question marks moving forward... As ALWAYS seems to be the case for the Leafs.

The reason he struggled was because Keefe wouldn't play him if he made any mistakes. Lilly is a really good young defender with great composure and once Keefe is gone he will be top pairing imo.

I agree he has dependable top pairing potential - but the time is NOW for the Leafs - not 3-5 yrs from now.

As the Anaheim GM, I would certainly pay a second and a late pick or two for Liljegren.
