Quoting: pens1991
I think if the pens trade Petry and retain around $1.5M that's good value on Petry. Might be a little more doable in this scenario having Petry at $4.75M AAV
I'd also assume Power gets a similar deal to Dahlin's first ($6M aav for 3 years). Guessing Dahlin get's $8-9M AAV, just personally don't see him getting more $$ than Makar/Fox
Very unusual to read a post from an ACGM who follows another team to have the same vision as mine.
Petry at $4,750,000 and swapping out Lyubushkin would be a huge upgrade for the Sabres.
Jeff hits, blocks, scores and eats minutes.
He could play with any of the LHD.
With Dahlin, Jeff would watch his back and allow Rasmus to roam.
With Power or Samauelsson Jeff would be an on ice mentor.
As for Dahlin and Power salaries using Makar and Fox as comparables, $9,000,000 would be the top for Dahlin and maybe you are correct with $8,000,000 as the floor.
I just cannot envision Dahlin as a $10,000,000 LHD, for many reasons.
First, Fox and Makar have more intrinsic value as they are both RHD.
Second, Thompson and Cozens signed for significantly less, more or less setting the tone for future salaries as well.
Finally, there is the Buffalo discount, https://gavingroup.ca/lifestyle-rankings/
Buffalo is ranked 2nd while Colorado is 18th and NY City is 32nd.
I should add, Dahlin at $8,000,000 for 7 years, would make it easier to keep all of the younger players.
Hard to tell about Power, he may prove to be better than Dahlin so a 3 year bridge of $6,000,000 appears to be in line as well.
Excellent observations, thank you for your input.
