MTL as well
They aren’t trading their C depth for another winger
Bad trade for each sides

A small winger MTL already has plenty of, for their 2 best faceoff centers. Terrible.

No interest in Garland whatsoever, especially not if we're to give up 2 centers for him.

This would actually be a good trade for Van. All of a sudden we'd have good center depth and the Dvorak deal ends a yr earlier than Garland.

Dvorak is bad and overpaid. Garland is good and paid fairly. Evans is solid, but nothing special. This trade makes us worse and doesn’t help our cap situation

Dvorak is a center. We don't currently have a 3c. I could easily see him bouncing back. If not he's done in 2 yrs. Garland is 3 and is a negative asset despite being worth his contract. Not to mention we have depth a wing and in the prospect pool. Cap is hardly affected.

Dvorak is a negative asset, a defensive black hole, and not good enough offensively to justify his cap hit or poor defensive play. If we got him we’d still need a 3C. I’d rather use Blueger/Aman for a season at 3C, promote Raty for 3C, or sign Suter to a cheap 1 year deal if possible. Those are all better options than trading for Dvorak

We don't have the cap space to sign Suter unless we can move cap out which isn't sounding likely. Raty didn't show he was anywhere close and given his age I'd say it's very likely he spends most of the season in Abbotsford. Blueger and Aman are both 4th line quality players. Blueger is a black hold offensively. And Aman is not much better. Certainly not a 3rd liner. Especially when his wingers are guys with offensive upside like Hoglander, Beauvillier, Podz.

This jfresh cardE-eWD7fWEAUyeES?format=jpg&name=large is the guy you're hoping to get. And who I think given his position and contract situation is well worth the risk compared to Garland.

That’s the JFresh card from when he was traded. Here’s a link to both an updated one and Dom’s player card of him (not sure how to put pictures on here). The only way I’d consider trading for him is if he was either half retained or came with a good sweetener to take on his full contract

I am aware its from PHX I think it illustrates how fickle these numbers can be. Here hes one of the better defensive and offensive players in the league. He goes to Montreal and it all falls apart. Was he always that bad? what happened?

The sweetener is getting out from Garland who is redundant and that Dvoraks contract ends a yr earlier and he plays center. Also jake Evans.
